Annealing

Metal annealingis carried out at temperatures of 500-1150 degrees Celsius. As a result of this process, plasticity increases, internal stress and brittleness decrease, which allows to significantly improve the workability of products. We perform cast iron annealing, copper annealing, brass annealing, steel annealing.

Annealing is a type of heat treatment that consists of heating steel, holding it at a given temperature and then slowly cooling it together with the furnace. Annealing is used to simplify the mechanical processing of metal, as well as to prepare it for subsequent heat treatment and obtaining the required mechanical properties and parameters.

As a result of annealing, a stable structure free of residual stresses is formed. 

The purposes of annealing:
  • reducing hardness and increasing ductility to facilitate metal cutting;
  • reducing internal stress arising after pressure treatment (forging, stamping), mechanical processing, etc.;
  • removing brittleness and increasing impact toughness resistance;
  • eliminating structural heterogeneity in the composition of the material that occurs during solidification of the casting as a result of liquation;
  • changing the properties of the work-hardened metal.
